Brisbane news was big, but this is bigger

So Brisbane News was pretty good, but I now have some even more exciting news. I have applied to do a trade fair called First Instyle in Melbourne in August. It runs for a week and I have also been asked to provide images for promotional publications in national magazines. So I have been busy getting pieces together to have images to send to arrive by Friday.
Here are some of the new pieces that will be on offer for the trade show and used as publication images. All credits for photography go to Tarnya Cox Photography.

Last Day at Oxlades

So today is the beginning of a new chapter in my career.

As of 12:30 this afternoon, I will only be employed in the field of jewellery and nothing else. This includes my own work, Jeweller to the Lost, and my teaching at the Brisbane Institute of Art.

Sometimes I think it has been a long time coming but then I look at what I have achieved in the time frame that I have been out of the university environment and in the last year and a half since graduating at the end of 2008, I can now say that I have achieved quite a lot! It has only been a year and a half and here I am, about to jump head on into what I consider the only thing I want to do with myself.

Yes, it may have taken some time to get there in regards to figuring out what I wanted to do with my life, but I think half of the fun happens when you’re figuring it out. Life is an experience I have certainly had more than my share of that! So it is a great thing that I am now able ot focus on the one thing and make that work.

The business is going well and teaching is racing along at a rapid rate. Barbara’s is going well and I am always learning something, which is what it is all about really.

I am about to hand over a fantastic commission piece to a person who I know appreciates everything I have done and I know the person who receives the piece will fall in love with the piece. There is nothing better than having a client who comes back to you because they truly love what you will do for them and they trust you to make the right decisions!

As you can tell I am quite excited by this commission and a lot of thought has gone into how it will all come together. Small details that will fit the theme and highlight the individual, one off nature of the piece. Pictures will be posted once the client has the ring and the gift has been given. Only then will you all get to see what has been done.

But for now, the day is progressing well and I am looking forward to the next chapter in my life. A little anxious about it too but that will pass with time! I hope!
